Second Cycle of Study

 

             Study program for second cycle on the Department of geography according to Bolognian system of study has begun since 2008/2009. academical year. II cycle of study on Department of geography takes one academical year, which means 2 semesters (winter's and summer's) and it containes total 60 ECTS credits, or 30 ECTS credits in each semestre.

            Study programs of II cycle on Department of geography are organisied at three different orientations:

·       Geography in Education

·       Regional and Spatial Planning

·       Tourism and Environment Protection

            Study program of teacher's orientation (Geography in Education) for II cycle is adapted to educate and prepare students for the professional-scientific work in the educational system of geography as well as for a pegaogical work in primary schools and highschools in Bosnia&Herzegovina. Graduating II cycle of teacher's orientation students pick up degree master of geography (MA). Masters of geography can single and independent way leading the educational process of geography in primary schools and highschools. They are also qualified for participating in all activities of team work on the syllabus creation and revisions in primary schools and highschools, as well as participating in curriculum creation and revisions of all subjects that belongs to the head geography. Masters of geography are qualified for advicory and supervisory activities for improvement of the process in geography education that are taken by ministry competence and other relevant institutions, as well as for participation in the evaluation process of books and handbooks for all subjects that belongs to geography field. Masters of geography (MA) who graduated II cycle of geography study with the average mark during study above 8/eight/ have a chance to involve in educational process as an assistant/senior assistant at faculties which perform study of geography on a I cycle of study.

            Study program on II cycle with regional and spatial planning is adapted for education and preparations of students for professional-scientific work in the field of regional and spatial planning. Graduating II cycle of this study students pick up degree master of geography (MA), regional and spatial planning orientation. Masters of geography, regional and spatial planning orientation, are qualified for managment and/or participation in team work in a different phases of preparation, making and revision of regional and spatial plans, as well as for advicory activites during realisation of regional and spatial plans in a frame of ministry and relevant institutions competence, also they can take participation during professional evaluation process of regional and spatial plans, and in many other jobs from this field.Masters of geography (MA), regional and spatial planning orientation, who graduated II cycle of study with average mark above 8/eight/ have a chance to involve in educational process as an assistant/senior assistant at faculties which perform study of geography with regional and spatial planning orientation on a I cycle of study.

            Study program on the II cycle of study geography with tourism and evnironment protection orientation is adapted for education and preparations of students for work in the field of tourism and environment protection. Graduating II cycle of study, tourism and environment protection orientation, students will pick up degree master of geography (MA), tourism and environment protection orientation. Masters of geography with this orientation are qualified for managing and/or team work in a different phases of preparations, realisation and revision of plans for tourism destination development. They are qualified for leading and/or team work in a creation of tourism products for some determined tourism region or tourism place, or even for a single scientifical-research work in the field of identification and valorisation of natural-geographical and anthropogenic-geographical potentials during all phases of tourism planning. They are also enabled for advicory and supervisory activities with the goal to realisate plans and strategies of tourism development and to apply them in a practicional life in a frame of ministry and other relevant institutions competence. They are qualified for participation in a process of professional evaluation of spatial-planning documentation in the field of tourism, then for researching, advicory and supervisory work in the field of sustainable consume of natural and anthopogenic resources in a frame of ministry and institutions. They are qualified for researching, advisory and supervisory work in the field of environment protection from all types of elementary hazards and other jobs from the same field. Masters of geography (MA), tourism and environment protection orientation, who graduated II cycle of study with average mark above 8/eight/ have a chance to involve in educational process as an assistant/senior assistant at faculties which perform study of geography with tourism and environment protection orientation on a I cycle of study.

            Since 2003/2004. academic year at Department of geography has been realisated postgraduate study according to prebolognian system, orientation: ''Geographical basics of regional and spatial planning'', which last for two years (4 semesters).
