First Cycle of Study

              First study cycle at Department of Geography in accordance with Bologna system of study began in the academic year 2005 / 2006. The first study cycle at the Department of Geography lasts four study years or eight semesters, and upon its completion 240 ECTS credits is acquired. One academic year is organized in two semesters, winter and summer, and lasts for one academic year (with a one-month break in August). Upon completion of one study year a total of 60 ECTS credits or 30 credits per semester is acquired.

      Study programs at the Department of Geography are organized into the following three study courses:

Geography in Education,

Regional and Spatial Planning,

Tourism and Environmental Protection.

            Study program of the course Education in Geography prepares students for teaching work in primary and secondary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Upon completion of the first study cycle of course Education in Geography title Bachelor of geography is acquired. Bachelor/Baccalaureate of geography is qualified for independent management of the educational process in primary and secondary schools from all subjects in the field of Geography. Bachelor of geography that have completed study program of Geography with an average grade of more than 8 /eight/ have the opportunity to participate in the teaching-scientific process as assistants in higher education institutions that implement the first study cycle in the field of Geography.

            Study program of the course Regional and Spatial Planning is adapted to educate and prepare students for work in the field of regional and spatial planning. Upon completion of the first study cycle of course Regional and Spatial Planning, title Bachelor of Regional and Spatial Planning is acquired. Bachelor of Regional and Spatial Planning is qualified for teamwork in various stages of preparation, drafting and revision of spatial and regional plans in the area phsysical-geographic and social-geographic basis of regional and spatial planning.Bachelor of Regional and Spatial Planning that that have completed study program with an average grade of more than 8 /eight/ have the opportunity to participate in the teaching-scientific process as assistants in higher education institutions that implement the first study cycle in the field of Regional and Spatial Planning.

            Study program of the course Tourism and Environmental Protection is adapted to educate and prepare students for work in the field of tourism and environmental protection. Upon completion of the first study cycle of course Tourism and Environmental Protection, title Bachelor of Tourism and Environmental Protection is acquired. Bachelor of Tourism and Environmental Protection is professionally trained in teamwork in the identification and valuation of phsysical-geographic and social-geographic potential at all stages of tourism planning, identification and valuation of tourism potentials in all phases of the strategy of tourism development, in all phases of the tourism travel organization, domestic and abroad (especially in the presentation of tourism resources), and in creating and presenting marketing strategy for attractive tourism motives (in printed and electronic version), component and complex research program of physical-geographic and social-geographic elements and factors needed to assess the quality of the environment and many other activities related to these field. Bachelor of Tourism and Environmental Protection  that have completed study program with an average grade of more than 8 /eight/ have the opportunity to participate in the teaching-scientific process as assistants in higher education institutions that implement the first study cycle program in the field of Tourism and Environmental Protection.
